Best Medical Detox and Treatment Plan – Magnolia Recovery Center

What is Medical Detox?

For many people, medical detox is the first step toward getting sober and beginning treatment. Medical detox is the process in which traces of any drugs or alcohol will be removed from the body. At Magnolia Recovery, we may also manage the physical symptoms of withdrawal with evidence-based medications.

It’s important to note that detox outside of medical supervision can have potentially dangerous consequences. When your body is physically dependent on a substance, missing the usual dosage will cause imbalances that lead to withdrawal symptoms. Depending on the substance, these symptoms can be uncomfortable—even fatal—if they are not monitored and treated by a doctor as they occur.

At Magnolia Recovery, we offer 24/7 medical supervision to dispense medications, monitor your vitals, and ensure your safety and comfort as you undergo the medical detoxification process.

Why is Medical Detox Necessary?

Medical detox is a vital step towards recovery. Prolonged drug and alcohol use can cloud your judgment, and medical detox will allow you to begin residential treatment with a clear body and mind so you can begin healing physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Quitting an addictive substance can also lead to painful withdrawal symptoms or extreme discomfort. Alcohol withdrawal can be particularly dangerous. Symptoms can range from mild anxiety and shakiness to seizures and Delirium Tremens, which is a condition characterized by rapid heartbeat, fever, and confusion. That’s why it’s important to detox under close medical supervision. Having a team of licensed medical professionals can ensure a safe, healthy withdrawal and a smooth transition to residential treatment.

How Does Medical Detox Work & How Long Does it Take?

If you need medical detox, the medical detox process will begin as soon as you arrive at the facility. The length of detox will depend on your medical history, the type of substance, and how long the substance was used. Withdrawal symptoms can last a few days or even a couple of weeks. Length of detox will vary, though it typically lasts about a week or two.

While medical detox may cleanse your body of the addictive substance, it does not treat the underlying behavioral causes of addiction or treat the effects. Medical detox must be followed by therapy and other forms of rehabilitation. A residential treatment program, which often follows detox, may take between 30 and 90 days.

How Can I Begin Medical Detox?

Magnolia Recovery provides on-site medical detox at several of our locations. We will also take care of your transportation to and from the medical detox facility to ensure your safe transition to our residential accommodations.

If you have questions about the medical detox process or think you or a loved one could benefit from medical detox and residential treatment, our admissions counselors are available 24/7 to take your call.

Please call 760-767-8070 to speak to an admission’s counselor and have a clinical evaluation so we can better understand your needs and figure out the best medical detox and treatment plan for you.

Personalized Treatment – Magnolia Recovery Center Hilton Head Island, SC

What to Expect at Magnolia Recovery Center

Patients will reside at Magnolia Recovery with around-the-clock guidance and supervision from our clinical staff. Staff works with each patient to determine the appropriate personalized treatment and length of residential care, but most people stay for 25 days after successful completion of detox.

Residential Schedule

Throughout their stay, patients will have a full schedule of individual and group activities all tailored to their personalized treatment plans. This is just an example of what patients can expect during their residential treatment at Magnolia Recovery; all schedules and activities are dependent on the needs of each person.

Weekends at Magnolia Recovery give patients opportunities to bond with each other and with the staff in a more relaxed setting through organized group activities. After the first five full days of treatment, patients are able to earn ten-minute “phone cards” for contacting family and friends. Earning these cards depends on each individual’s needs for treatment, their progress through treatment, and the discretion of that person’s primary therapist. We offer two hours of family visitation every Saturday and Sunday for patients who have completed the first five days of treatment.

Your treatment plan is tailored to your needs so providing an exact schedule here isn’t possible, but we can review what an average schedule may include.

What Happens When I Leave Magnolia Recovery?

Aftercare & Sober Living

Once patients have successfully completed their personalized treatment, the facility’s Discharge Planners work with them individually to discuss goals for life after treatment, otherwise known as an aftercare plan. Patients continue their care in a sober living community as they adjust themselves to lifetime recovery outside of Magnolia Recovery Center, which we are happy to accommodate. Our staff works with sober living communities both inside and outside the Magnolia Recovery Center’s network of partners based on the patient’s needs and his or her location preference. Patients in a sober living community are mostly independent but still have the option to receive care based on their needs. Most of our patients who go to sober living after leaving our facility stay for around nine months.

Alumni Support

Magnolia Recovery is dedicated to helping patients through their lifetime of recovery. We are proud to have a large, active alumni community organized by our staff. Our staff keeps alumni active and engaged through e-mail newsletters. Patients at Magnolia Recovery are given the option to begin plugging into the alumni community during their fourth week of residential/inpatient treatment.
